Why It's Important to Keep Your Broadheads Sharp! A Guest Blog from IkesOutdoors.
I own one of these. There is ample evidence that pull through sharpeners are by far one of the worst choices for sharpening that can be made. I do use the diamond rod and the ceramic edge.
I have enjoyed my Lansky sharpening kit for about fifteen years now.
Man i still have my turnbox from years ago with the old ceramic only rods. It's near to see them with diamonds now. Gonna have to grab one to keep in the car.
And this is why I love Lansky product there always some new to use
Can i sharpening longer blades and 5mm thicker????
So, we are moving towards the edge? Looks like a really go way to slice ones finger.
Чим чистити каміння для заточки!Ваші рекомендації!Дякую
Next time show before and after cutting
the mic so good i thought my sound was muted
Quality sharpener, Quality Audio
I use oil on my diamond stones they cut better faster and cleaner like you said reduced friction so no energy is turning into heat and all motion is going to cutting plus diamond stones like other oil stones are static they don't release abrasives you want them to stay sharp as long as possible
For which angle ?
Dull knives are even more dangerous.
how so
@@thepizzacarpizza1056dull knives can still cut the shit out of you, but they also can’t do their job effectively. So say you’re cutting an apple into slices, if the dull knife needs considerable force to go through the apple one might accidentally injure themselves once the knife eventually jerks through the apple.
@@dr.chalmers7923 oooh, good point. That's why I always dull my knives on wood until they can only rip paper.
Huh 😂@@thepizzacarpizza1056
I don’t understand how pull through sharpeners still exist
very nice hope this blows up
"just 3 or 4 strokes with moderate pressure will do" why you gotta call me out like that bro
i own one of these. good little piece of kit for my hunting and fishing bag.
This is a bad way to do a knife unless you got a piece of junk, but they’ve got to be a better system than this
Is there any advice as to how to maintain/care for/clean the actual blade medic? Like for example, removing left over material from sharpening the blade, etc? Can you just wash it with water?
There is a proper way, we can make a video tutorial and tag you 🤛
That would be nice @@LanskySharpeners! I love this product! Wouldn't wanna spoil it.
I know this is an older video. I highly recommend the ceramic handheld, C-Sharp, for quickly putting the edge back on kitchen knives. The C-Sharp isn't as precise as a full honing, but it's convenient and keeps you cutting. If you're using your knives very seriously, break out the Precision Angle system. Two things: The rod isn't tight in the angle slot in the handle, you need to use your finger to keep it snug. Be sure to check the screw holding the rod in the stone, they will work loose (don't gorilla tighten them).
Красивая но неудобная !
ca affute comme mes couilles
Super!
I have seen so many ways to use this sharpener. Here she moves INTO The blade with a small slide down a portion of the blade. Others move the blade up and down and yet other slide the stone left to right on the blade. Quite the conundrum for those new to the system.
Simply pathetic system.
Been using this model for years and swear by it. The diamond sharpener is always the first thing to go - if you want or need that, you will have to replace the whole tool then. For normal sharpening, NEVER use the tungsten carbide sharpener! It takes away so much steel and does not leave an even edge. It's is only for edges that are basically ruined = chipped, super dull, etc. and you thus need to create a new edge.
thanks for the tip!
Mine say “extra hard, hard, and soft” and every time I have to remember which goes first.
The stone rod guide isn't a great idea. It is flimsy and loosened and begins to twist. I keep tightening it. Wouldn't it be better to secure the rod ( mold it together). 1 rod for each stone?
I know this video is 5 years old. I just ordered some axes and a lansky stone. Thanks for the tips bud
i have an old kit from my dad thats in great shape, besides the really annoying latch on the box. i understand how to use the system except for how to know where and how much of the blade should be secured to it. shoot for the middle on both? half way deep?, and then put it in the middle of the blade?
Which one is the better one for sharpening knives out of these 3?
Off topic how would one clean sharpening stones? Mine are clogged an causing more damage then good
👍👍👍
Reminds me of those Japanese "you have to train for 35 years cleaning chopsticks to learn Kung Fu"... Why dont you have a grinder? Oh yeah, sweat and blood means it's better!
Do a sharpness test afterwards next time
It’s sharp
Looks like shit. How about getting rid of the burrs.
Will these work with my ancient kit thats in a pretty annoying green shell case that is hard to open and close. Im not at home to check if it has a hole to mount on these or not. I think the kit is at least 30 years old and still works great. I used to put it in a bench vice, but i just hold it in my hand now.
No test lmao
Next time 👍
I didn't come here to listen to music I came to understand how to use the knife sharpener no thank you I'll go somewhere else
Too loud, not my taste, but it doesn't last that long. Losing it would be good.
Took 95 min to sharpen.
😪
This looks exactly like the one I own from China. Probably a contract. Not a bad budget stone. It beats the Smith's dual sided 8 inch stone from Walmart. I soaked mine in mineral oil. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment! Appreciate the support 👍
If you do end up with not perfectly flat stones at some point can you use the same method to level them that you would with a regular whetstone?
Can't mine to work. Be nice if they pulled tight with the camera instead of a long shot. This is NOT an easy product to use. Knife pivots in the clamp, every thing about it is awkward and non ergonomic. I totally hate it. Misleading ad about how "easy it is to use" it isn't.
Best thing ever. You can do anything with a blade medic
Yes you can! 🙌
How’s the edge quality?
Fantastic! 👍
Why no wing nut on the clamp
I've owned one of these for about 3 years now and the only advice I would reiterate is to be very careful with the carbide sharpener. As you say, moderate pressure....and only a few strokes. In fact, I need a new one as I've pretty much worn the whole thing out!
No matter what I do, I cannot get the guide rods tight enough to the stones to stop them from going off straight. Is there some sort of technique? I mean, it's literally a screw, shouldn't be hard to do but I can't make it stay.
Best sharpener there is. And can do any blade geometry
I think you could liven this content up a little bit. Show how you can sharpen anything with the blade medic. Point out you don't need stones or jigs when you have this . More ASMR less silent film . Natural background not pastel colours. ..
Hey! I just bought one. Are you supposed to wet them before sharpening like a wet stone? I didn’t see you do it in the video and I want to make sure I use it properly. Thanks!
Hi there! Thanks so much for reaching out! In short, whether or not you wet the stones depends on which type of stone you use. For Alumina Oxide and Silicon Carbide sharpeners, we recommend using them dry, and cleaning them when enough metal debris has accumulated to interfere with the sharpening process. For the natural Arkansas sharpeners, we recommend using them with honing oil at all times to prevent glazing and/or fracturing. Lastly, for diamond hones, do not use the oil at all. For more detailed information or if you have any other questions for us, please contact us at customerservice@lansky.com ! We hope this helps!
the rods that come in the package are bent so they are not perfectly flat
